Neighbourly 2002

I’ve been documenting a bundle of barbed wire ever since I noticed it on the corrugated rooftop of a neighbouring apartment building. I am fascinated by the light, the way that the light changes the subject, à la Claude Monet. I found it ironic too that sometimes when I was photographing this fence, I’d notice the caretaker up on the roof, cutting pieces to fix the breaks. So much for neighbourly love. So much for security.
